From “Not all birds want to fly & other short stories”

”… What if I help you fly?’ I say without even realising it. But I don’t regret it; it’s a crazy thought, but it somehow feels right.
The bird looks at me in disbelief, ‘That’s very kind of you, thank you. But how can you help me fly? You’re not a bird, you’re human. What do you know about flying?’
‘You’re right, I’m not a bird. But I’ve watched many birds fly throughout my life. I can at least try to help you… Who knows, maybe all you need is someone who believes you could fly. And I believe that… If it turns out that you can’t fly, I’ll bring you back here, I promise… It’s your choice,’ I say, smiling.
‘You’re an interesting human… But why do you want to do that for me?’
‘Because I believe everyone deserves to be free, whatever that means for them…’
